The Stockholm Archipelago tour begins at our meeting point in central Stockholm. From here it’s a short 45-minute drive to the heart of the Stockholm Archipelago. As you prepare for the journey ahead, you’ll pack your camping gear, food, and water for the next two days. Before setting off into the kayak, we will provide essential safety instructions and paddling techniques to ensure a safe and exciting trip.
The starting point and route will be adjusted based on weather conditions and group constellation, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all.
This trip is suitable for beginner and advanced paddlers (a normal fitness level is required, you don’t have to be an athlete to participate in this tour)
Travel Itinerary – Day 1
Our adventure begins bright and early at 09:00 AM with a meeting at our office, where you’ll be introduced to your fellow paddlers and our experienced guide. After a short briefing and gear check, we’ll head to the kayak station to begin our journey. By 10:30 AM, we’ll be on the water, paddling through the stunning archipelago for approximately two hours. Along the way, you’ll be immersed in the beauty of the natural surroundings, with chances to spot birdlife and admire the peaceful landscape.
Around midday, we’ll reach a small, secluded island where we’ll stop for a relaxing lunch break. You can take a swim in the crystal-clear waters, soak up the sun on the beach, and help prepare lunch over an open fire. After some time to relax and explore the island, we’ll paddle for another two hours, taking in more breathtaking scenery. Later in the afternoon, we’ll take a short break for some snacks before continuing on to find the perfect wild camping location along the shoreline. Once we arrive, we’ll set up our tents and settle in. As the sun begins to set, we’ll gather around the fire to enjoy dinner, share stories, and appreciate the peacefulness of nature—an ideal way to end the first day of adventure.
Travel Itinerary – Day 2
On the second day, wake up to the peaceful sound of waves and breathtaking ocean views. After a hearty breakfast, we’ll pack up our camp and get back into our kayaks for the morning’s paddle, where we’ll cover about 2-3 hours in the best kayaking conditions of the day. The calm morning waters, often smooth and reflective, create an almost magical experience as we paddle through the archipelago.
We’ll stop for lunch on another island and take a short hike to a viewpoint that offers stunning panoramic views of the area. After lunch and a chance to stretch your legs, we’ll return to the kayaks for the final two-hour paddle. Navigating through the smaller islands, we’ll soak up the last of the archipelago’s beauty before arriving back in town around 5:00 PM, concluding an unforgettable two-day adventure.
Our multi-day kayak tours are available only during the summer, when temperatures typically range from 16°C to 28°C. However, weather conditions on the open ocean can be unpredictable, and it’s not uncommon to encounter wind and rain during the trip. To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience, we highly recommend checking the local weather forecast as your tour date approaches. Please bring suitable clothing based on the forecast, so you’re prepared for whatever nature brings. Being well-prepared will allow you to fully appreciate the adventure and beauty of ocean kayaking.
Let’s start with the most important rule: PACK LIGHT! Camping gear and food are the priorities, so everything else needs to fit around them. However, staying warm and dry is essential, and having a full change of clothes is crucial if you are tipping over. Below is our recommended packing list for your Stockholm Archipelago tour. Please adjust your packing based on the weather forecast and your personal preferences.
Paddling Clothing
Camping Clothing
Personal Items
Remember to check the weather before packing to ensure you’re well-prepared for the conditions!
Please note that you will step into the ocean when you enter and exit the kayak. We recommend some kind of sandals or water shoes, as it can get slippery. There are many cheap options in stores like XXL or Decathlon available. However, don’t feel the need to buy water shoes just for this experience if you don’t plan to use them again. Our kayaking adventure works just fine without water shoes as well!
We have no dedicated storage space for larger luggage (suitcases e.g. ). However, you can take smaller backpacks (daypacks) directly with you into the kayak (dry compartment). Otherwise, we recommend using one of the dedicated luggage box providers in Stockholm.
Recommendation: Luggage Hero T-Centralen

This multi-day Stockholm Archipelago tour covers approximately 15-20 km per day (30-40 km round-trip), offering a moderate to moderately challenging activity. The majority of our customers find the distance manageable, as we maintain a relaxed and steady pace. There’s no need to worry about the level of fitness required when booking with us.
You only need to be in normal health conditions and have a positive mindset. Our experienced guides will be there to assist you throughout the journey, though the level of individual support depends on the group size. We always strive to ensure that everyone has the best possible experience, and if needed, our guides are prepared to help, including towing kayaks if necessary.
For some participants, the tour may be physically demanding, depending on personal fitness and weather conditions, such as wind.
The likelihood of tipping over during our Stockholm Archipelago kayak tours is low, even in wavy conditions. Our kayaks are designed to be stable, making them suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers. Additionally, we carefully plan our routes to avoid areas with rough waters.
Before each trip, we provide a comprehensive briefing that covers essential paddling techniques and safety protocols. Our guides are always nearby to assist, ensuring everyone feels confident and secure throughout the journey. While it’s natural to have some concerns, tipping over is a rare occurrence. Should it happen, our guides are fully trained to respond quickly and effectively, ensuring your safety at all times.
Double kayaks are especially stable and rarely tip over. Tipping is more likely in single kayaks, so if you’re less experienced, we recommend choosing a double kayak when booking for added stability.
When deciding whether to use a single or tandem kayak, consider your experience level and what you’re looking for in your kayak tour Stockholm adventure. We typically provide tandem kayaks by default, as they cater well to various skill levels and promote a shared experience. Tandem kayaks are particularly suitable for beginners or those who prefer the company and added stability that comes with a two-person setup. Additionally, all our kayaks are sea kayaks equipped with a rudder, enhancing steering and control, making them ideal for navigating our coastal waters. If you have a preference for a single kayak, please let us know in advance so we can accommodate your request. This allows us to ensure that everyone has the best possible experience on the water, tailored to their skills and comfort level.
We primarily explore the central part of the Stockholm Archipelago. Our starting points are flexible, and adjusted based on wind and weather conditions to ensure optimal safety and the best possible experience for all participants. The vast number of islands in the archipelago offers numerous opportunities for encounters and exploration. Depending on the day’s conditions, we carefully select the most scenic and suitable routes, ensuring each kayaking trip is unique. For those interested in extended adventures.
