You will paddle along hundreds of small islands, prepare food on an open fire and sleep under the stars. All of it comes with the most stunning ocean scenery.

The adventure begins at our meeting point in central Stockholm. From here it’s a short 45-minute drive to the heart of the Archipelago. As you prepare for the journey ahead, you’ll pack your camping gear, food, and water for the next few days. Before setting off, we will provide essential safety instructions and paddling techniques to ensure a safe and exciting trip.

The starting point and route will be adjusted based on weather conditions and group constellation, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all.

This trip is suitable for beginner and advanced paddlers (normal fitness level is required, you don’t have to be an athlete to participate in this tour).

Travel Itinerary – Day 1
Our 3-day kayaking adventure begins with a meeting at our office at 09:00 AM, where you’ll meet your guide and group. After a gear check and a short briefing, we’ll head to the kayak station and embark on the first leg of our journey. The day starts with around 2 hours of paddling, where you’ll glide through calm waters and take in the breathtaking scenery. By midday, we’ll stop for lunch on one of the small, beautiful islands—perfect for a swim, some sunbathing, or simply relaxing in nature.

After lunch, we’ll continue paddling for another 2 hours, with countless picture-perfect spots along the way. In the late afternoon, we’ll take a break for some snacks to recharge before paddling the final stretch of the day. As the evening approaches, we’ll begin our search for the perfect camping spot along the shoreline. Once we find it, you’ll set up your tent and settle in for the night. We’ll end the day next to a cozy campfire, with stunning views of the ocean and the peaceful sounds of nature all around.

Travel Itinerary – Day 2
Day two begins with the early morning light reflecting off the ocean as you enjoy breakfast with stunning views. After packing up your equipment, we’ll get back into our kayaks and continue our adventure, paddling several miles further out into the more remote parts of the archipelago. This day will take you to the edge of the archipelago, a completely uninhabited and pristine area that feels like a true escape from the world.

Along the way, we’ll stop for a short hike and a relaxing lunch on one of the small, untouched islands, where you can explore the rugged terrain and appreciate the wild beauty of the archipelago. The day will be filled with paddling, exploration, and opportunities to capture the serene and untouched landscape. We’ll finish the day by finding another ideal camping spot, where you can unwind, share stories around the fire, and enjoy another peaceful night under the stars.

Travel Itinerary – Day 3
On the final day, you’ll wake up to the calm serenity of the archipelago, savoring your morning coffee or tea by the ocean. After breakfast, we’ll pack up camp and begin the last part of our journey. The return route will take us along a different path, offering new islands and fresh scenery to discover on the way back to the kayak station. This final leg of the trip offers the perfect opportunity to reflect on the past few days, take in the remaining sights, and enjoy the tranquility of the archipelago one last time before we arrive back in town, bringing our incredible 3-day adventure to a close.

Common questions (FAQ)

We run the Stockholm Archipelago Multi-Day Kayak Tour only during the summer months, when the weather is generally pleasant.

Temperatures usually range between 16°C and 28°C. However, since we are paddling in the open ocean, conditions can vary. It is possible to experience wind or occasional rain during the tour, so we recommend coming prepared just in case.

Let’s start with the most important rule: PACK LIGHT! Camping gear and food are the priorities, so everything else needs to fit around them. However, staying warm and dry is essential, and having a full change of clothes is crucial if you are tipping over. Below is our recommended packing list for your Stockholm Archipelago Multi-Day Kayak Tour Please adjust your packing based on the weather forecast and your personal preferences.

Paddling clothing

  • Swim trunks or shorts
  • Long-sleeve top or T-shirt
  • Waterproof rain jacket
  • Hat (baseball cap or wide-brimmed hat)
  • Sunglasses
  • Water shoes or sandals (recommended)
  • Gloves (bicycling or kayak gloves, recommended)

Camping Clothing

  • Synthetic undershorts
  • Synthetic fleece long underwear
  • Sleeping socks
  • Trousers
  • Fleece jacket
  • Camp shirt
  • Comfortable shoes and socks

Personal Items

  • Insect repellent
  • Sunscreen and UV lip balm
  • Toiletries
  • Small towel (quick-drying microfiber recommended)
  • Reusable water bottle (eco-friendly preferred)

Remember to check the weather before packing to ensure you’re well-prepared for the conditions!

You will step into the ocean when getting in and out of the kayak during our Stockholm Archipelago Kayak Tours, so it can be a bit slippery. We recommend wearing sandals or water shoes for better grip and comfort. That said, you don’t need to buy special gear just for this tour. If you already have something suitable, great. If not, the experience works just fine without water shoes too.

No worries about your luggage. You are welcome to leave larger items like suitcases or travel backpacks at our office. Smaller items can come with you in the kayak and fit nicely into the dry compartments, keeping your essentials safe and dry throughout the tour.

The Stockholm Archipelago Multi-Day Kayak Tour covers about 15 to 20 kilometers per day, adding up to 45 to 60 kilometers in total. This makes it a moderately challenging activity, but most of our guests find the distance manageable thanks to the relaxed and steady pace we keep throughout the tour.

You just need to be in normal health and bring a positive mindset. Our guides are always available to assist, although the level of individual support may vary depending on group size. If needed, we can also tow kayaks to make sure everyone has an enjoyable experience.

That said, for some participants, it can feel physically demanding, especially in the arms. Wind and other weather conditions can also influence how challenging the tour feels

The likelihood of tipping over during any Stockholm Archipelago Kayak Tours is very low. Our kayaks are designed to be stable and suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers, and the calm waters of our route further minimize the risk.

We provide a thorough briefing before the trip, covering essential paddling techniques and safety measures. Our guides are also on hand to assist and ensure everyone feels confident and secure throughout the journey. While it’s natural to have some concerns, rest assured that tipping over is a rare occurrence. Should it happen, our guides are trained to handle such situations quickly and effectively, ensuring your safety at all times.

Double kayaks rarely tip over; it’s more likely to happen in single kayaks. Therefore, if you’re not an experienced kayaker, please choose a double kayak during the booking process.

When deciding whether to use a single or tandem kayak, consider your experience level and what you’re looking for in your archipelago kayak adventure. We typically provide tandem kayaks by default, as they cater well to various skill levels and promote a shared experience. Tandem kayaks are particularly suitable for beginners or those who prefer the company and added stability that comes with a two-person setup. Additionally, all our kayaks are sea kayaks equipped with a rudder, enhancing steering and control, making them ideal for navigating our coastal waters. If you have a preference for a single kayak, please let us know in advance so we can accommodate your request. This allows us to ensure that everyone has the best possible experience on the water, tailored to their skills and comfort level.

Yes, you’re welcome to bring your kids on our Stockholm Archipelago Multi-Day Kayak Tours. We love hosting families and make sure our adventures are safe and enjoyable for all ages.

  • Public tours: Minimum age is 16 years
  • Private tours: Suitable for children from 12 years

We use double kayaks, which are ideal for families with younger children. They offer extra stability and let an adult paddle together with a child. Our guides provide clear instructions and support to help everyone feel confident on the water. We have life jackets in all sizes and always take extra care to ensure everyone is safe and comfortable. For the most flexible experience, we recommend booking a private tour for your family.
