Experience our Stockholm Archipelago tour on a multi-day kayak adventure. This tour consists of two full days of kayaking and outdoor adventures. You will paddle along many small islands, prepare food on an open fire and sleep under the stars. All of it comes with the most stunning scenery over the Baltic Sea.
The Stockholm Archipelago tour begins at our meeting point in central Stockholm. From here it’s a short 45-minute drive to the heart of the Stockholm Archipelago. As you prepare for the journey ahead, you’ll pack your camping gear, food, and water for the next two days. Before setting off into the kayak, we will provide essential safety instructions and paddling techniques to ensure a safe and exciting trip.
The starting point and route will be adjusted based on weather conditions and group constellation, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all.
This trip is suitable for beginner and advanced paddlers (a normal fitness level is required, you don’t have to be an athlete to participate in this tour)
Travel Itinerary – Day 1
Our adventure begins bright and early at 09:00 AM with a meeting at our office, where you’ll be introduced to your fellow paddlers and our experienced guide. After a short briefing and gear check, we’ll head to the kayak station to begin our journey. By 10:30 AM, we’ll be on the water, paddling through the stunning archipelago for approximately two hours. Along the way, you’ll be immersed in the beauty of the natural surroundings, with chances to spot birdlife and admire the peaceful landscape.
Around midday, we’ll reach a small, secluded island where we’ll stop for a relaxing lunch break. You can take a swim in the crystal-clear waters, soak up the sun on the beach, and help prepare lunch over an open fire. After some time to relax and explore the island, we’ll paddle for another two hours, taking in more breathtaking scenery. Later in the afternoon, we’ll take a short break for some snacks before continuing on to find the perfect wild camping location along the shoreline. Once we arrive, we’ll set up our tents and settle in. As the sun begins to set, we’ll gather around the fire to enjoy dinner, share stories, and appreciate the peacefulness of nature—an ideal way to end the first day of adventure.
Travel Itinerary – Day 2
On the second day, wake up to the peaceful sound of waves and breathtaking ocean views. After a hearty breakfast, we’ll pack up our camp and get back into our kayaks for the morning’s paddle, where we’ll cover about 2-3 hours in the best kayaking conditions of the day. The calm morning waters, often smooth and reflective, create an almost magical experience as we paddle through the archipelago.
We’ll stop for lunch on another island and take a short hike to a viewpoint that offers stunning panoramic views of the area. After lunch and a chance to stretch your legs, we’ll return to the kayaks for the final two-hour paddle. Navigating through the smaller islands, we’ll soak up the last of the archipelago’s beauty before arriving back in town around 5:00 PM, concluding an unforgettable two-day adventure.
We run the Stockholm Archipelago Overnight Kayak Tour only during the summer months, when the weather is generally pleasant.
Temperatures usually range between 16°C and 28°C. However, since we are paddling in the open ocean, conditions can vary. It is possible to experience wind or occasional rain during the tour, so we recommend coming prepared just in case.
Let’s start with the most important rule: PACK LIGHT! Camping gear and food are the priorities, so everything else needs to fit around them. However, staying warm and dry is essential, and having a full change of clothes is crucial if you are tipping over. Below is our recommended packing list for your Overnight Stockholm Archipelago Tour. Please adjust your packing based on the weather forecast and your personal preferences.

Remember to check the weather before packing to ensure you’re well-prepared for the conditions!
You will step into the ocean when getting in and out of the kayak during our Stockholm Archipelago Kayak Tours, so it can be a bit slippery. We recommend wearing sandals or water shoes for better grip and comfort. That said, you don’t need to buy special gear just for this tour. If you already have something suitable, great. If not, the experience works just fine without water shoes too.
No worries about your luggage. You are welcome to leave larger items like suitcases or travel backpacks at our office. Smaller items can come with you in the kayak and fit nicely into the dry compartments, keeping your essentials safe and dry throughout the tour.
The Overnight Archipelago Kayak Tour covers about 15 to 20 kilometers per day, adding up to 30 to 40 kilometers in total. This makes it a moderately challenging activity, but most of our guests find the distance manageable thanks to the relaxed and steady pace we keep throughout the tour.
You just need to be in normal health and bring a positive mindset. Our guides are always available to assist, although the level of individual support may vary depending on group size. If needed, we can also tow kayaks to make sure everyone has an enjoyable experience.
That said, for some participants, it can feel physically demanding, especially in the arms. Wind and other weather conditions can also influence how challenging the tour feels
The likelihood of tipping over during any Stockholm Archipelago Kayak Tours is very low. Our kayaks are designed to be stable and suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers, and the calm waters of our route further minimize the risk.
We provide a thorough briefing before the trip, covering essential paddling techniques and safety measures. Our guides are also on hand to assist and ensure everyone feels confident and secure throughout the journey. While it’s natural to have some concerns, rest assured that tipping over is a rare occurrence. Should it happen, our guides are trained to handle such situations quickly and effectively, ensuring your safety at all times.
Double kayaks rarely tip over; it’s more likely to happen in single kayaks. Therefore, if you’re not an experienced kayaker, please choose a double kayak during the booking process.

When deciding whether to use a single or tandem kayak, consider your experience level and what you’re looking for in your archipelago kayak adventure. We typically provide tandem kayaks by default, as they cater well to various skill levels and promote a shared experience. Tandem kayaks are particularly suitable for beginners or those who prefer the company and added stability that comes with a two-person setup. Additionally, all our kayaks are sea kayaks equipped with a rudder, enhancing steering and control, making them ideal for navigating our coastal waters. If you have a preference for a single kayak, please let us know in advance so we can accommodate your request. This allows us to ensure that everyone has the best possible experience on the water, tailored to their skills and comfort level.
Yes, you’re welcome to bring your kids on our Stockholm Archipelago Overnight Kayak Tours. We love hosting families and make sure our adventures are safe and enjoyable for all ages.
We use double kayaks, which are ideal for families with younger children. They offer extra stability and let an adult paddle together with a child. Our guides provide clear instructions and support to help everyone feel confident on the water. We have life jackets in all sizes and always take extra care to ensure everyone is safe and comfortable. For the most flexible experience, we recommend booking a private tour for your family.
